There are simple boats like canoe to sophisticated boats with sophisticated machineries and engines. The boats could be made of wood, plastic, fiber or even aluminium. Mostly the people of UK go for fishing for bass in boat and for that they either hire boat or most of them would be having their own boats.

Aluminium boats are the most durable and easy to handle boats for bass fishing. It is corrosion free, light weight and therefore could be easily maneuvered and carried on shore when not in use (Aluminium bass fishing boats, 2008). Although it is very expensive most of the people who are really interested in bass fishing would like to purchase aluminium boats only. Cheaper boats are also available like a canoe in which 2-3 people could sit and fish and such canoes are mostly of assembled type so that when not in use it could be dismantled and kept safely for future use. Inflatable boats are available in many forms. There are boats that could be used by kids and large 2-3 seated ones, which could be used by adults. Kayaks are another type of boat and kayak fishing for bass is very famous in UK. These boats are also usually of the inflatable type. Some other types are pelican bass boats, ranger bass boats, charger bass boats, plastic bass boats etc. Each of this type is having its own advantages and disadvantages. The ultimate user has to select the boats, which he wants to use after careful study of these different types of boats (Fishing boats in Boats, Kayaks & Boating Equipment, 2008).

Thus it could be seen that boat fishing for bass is one of the favorite hobby of the people of UK and therefore boats for this purpose are available in the market in a variety of shapes with a variety of prices. Depending on the budget and the interest, fishermen could choose a boat that is best suited for him.

Bass, often called the king of the sea is highly priced by anglers and a popular choice with chefs. Since it a voracious predator feeding on sardines and mackerel it has high oil content and tastes very delicious. The European bass is found in warm water areas of the British Isles and are found in plenty along the southern coast. In Southern England bass breed mainly in tide races, over reefs and shingle banks, in spring and early summer. A young bass is called a school bass. The young bass fishes normally stay close to the shore until they are four years old. Male bass are the first to mature at a length of 32-35 cm while female bass have a length of 42 cm at the time of maturity. And then they begin their annual seasonal movements between their summer feeding areas and winter pre-spawning areas. They feed mainly on crustaceans and invertebrates and can also tolerate the brackish waters of the estuaries. Adult fish can be found on wrecks as deep as 30 fathoms, harbors, bays, shallow estuaries and sometimes fresh water rivers as well. Although bass can be caught throughout the year, the best time to fish for sea bass is during the summer when mature, migrating bass is often found close to the shoreline.

The coasts around Kent offer some of the finest bass fishing in the whole UK. Large numbers of visitors are attracted to the place due to its close proximity to densely populated cities like London and other south east towns. The place offers a wide range of landscapes favored by bass including creeks, deep waters, piers and harbors, estuaries, shallow sandy beaches, deep shelving gravel beaches and open sea. Spring is the time when many anglers are in pursuit of bass. At this time, they come to feed on the crabs and can be caught very close to the shore. Fishing over the top of the banks may yield bass during early summer. During the summer bass are found in abundance both inshore and the seas as well. Bass are present in sufficient numbers during the autumn also. You may employ various methods to fish for bass including cast baiting, fly fishing, wreck fishing, rough ground fishing, spinning, lure fishing etc. Bass seems to prefer live baits- so keep the bait tanks ready.

Dungeness Beach in Kent is considered one among the top twenty beaches in UK. The main fishing ports in Kent include Folkestone, Dungeness, Ramsgate and Whitstable. The major fishing venues in and around Kent includes the rocks between Dover and Folkestone, Hythe, Shakespeare beach and Dungeness. The major venues for pier fishing include Princes of Wales Pier, Admiralty pier, Samphire Hoe and Southern Breakwater. Recreational fisheries are one of the main sources of income in Kent. There are numerous sea angling clubs in Kent which regularly organises angling competitions. The areas also attract other kinds of tourism and provide livelihoods to hundreds of people.

North Wales has always been a favorite place for anglers. With the availability of different types of sea beds ranging from shingled areas and mud flats to rocks, reefs and sand banks, North Wales provides great fishing opportunities both from shore and afloat. The Irish Sea is blessed by the presence of numerous shallow and deep wrecks which is a haven for a wide variety of fishes including the bass. Perhaps the most famous place in North Wales for fishing is Anglesey. Anglesey has a many beaches and rocks that provide bass in abundance. Some fishing marks around Anglesey include the white beach, areas around Menai strait etc. The area around Puffin Island in Anglesey offers a great chance for reef and bank fishing for bass. Live baits in the form of sand eel are a must if you want to catch bass Lleyn Peninsula is also famous for its bass. Beaches around the Colwyn Bay and Llandudno also yield a superb catch during the summer and are one of the most favorite among bass anglers. If you are interested in night fishing then Llandudno’s North shore can be a good spot to catch bass. Inshore fishing by being afloat around the coast is another choice for those who want to catch bass coming over the gunwales. Conway in North Wales has a number of bass fishing venues along its beaches ranging from Anglesey to Liverpool that can be accessed easily through chartered boats. Barmouth a fishing harbor in the Cardigan Bay offers a number of fishing areas including the Mawddach channel and Barmouth point. Then there is Fairbourne that has steep shingle beach quite appropriate for bass fishing. You may also try float fishing for bass in beaches around Borth-y-Guest. The beach opposite to the Criccieth castle is simply terrific for surf casting for bass.
Joining the Welsh Federation of Sea Anglers (WFSA) can be of great help if you are interested in learning more about bass fishing spots in and around North Wales. Most of the angling clubs in North Wales are affiliated to WFSA that arranges major angling events at regional and national level.

Bass fishing is one of the most important game fishing in UK. The main season for bass fishing starts from April, when the climate in UK becomes warmer and the bass move inshore. Bass is a highly carnivorous voracious feeder and therefore it is easy to lure the fish using different types of artificial lures and baits and hook them. Bass fishing is so popular in UK that there is a big industry for all the accessories required for bass fishing.

Different types of fishing lures are available in the market. These include soft lures, hard lures, spinning lures, etc. The soft lures are artificial baits that are available in the shape of baitfishes in different colors. These are available as different packages of different typed of baits and the user could choose these packages and use the types of lures of his desire. Such packages are cheaper than the when these baits are bought separately (Cheap bass lure, 2007). It imitates an ‘injured fish’ swimming action, which attracts bass and it could be caught. Hard lures include bass bullets that are in the color and shape of baitfishes, which normally form food for bass. These are slow sinkers and therefore imitate baits, which are prevalent in surface waters. Rattling lures have a rattling device inside and would produce a rattling action in water and thus become irresistible for large predators such as bass. Spinning lures have a spinning or wobbling action while in water and are provided with a light, which flashes while in water. These actions and flashing of the light imitates fast swimming action of the baitfishes. Brightly colored feathers are also used which looks like shoal of fish to the predators (Bass fishing with spinners, 2007).

Thus it could be seen that bass lures comes in different forms and colours in the market. They also come in different packages so that it would be cheap and with a single purchase the user could have all the lures of his choice. It forms an important industry in UK. This is mainly because of the interest of the people of UK in game fishing.

Located at the south coast of England and facing southeast into the English Channel, Brighton makes a great all-round venue for shore anglers. Brighton has a variety of rocky marks, shingle beaches and some lovely fish-holding groynes. The Brighton coastline is noted for its excellent bass fishing throughout the summer and autumn months.

In Brighton, bass anglers mostly prefer using live mackerel, sand eels, redgills or plugs as bait. For tackle, you will require a 12 to 30 pound class rod or uptider rod with 12 to 25 pound main line and a reel of trace line 15 to 25 pounds. In addition to these, you would require tube boons, redgill of the right colour, 6/0 hooks and 3 to 6 ounces of weights.

Here are a few places in and around Brighton that are great for bass fishing. Palace Pier Beach: Though bass are the main attraction here, you can also find other fishes such as eel, dab, sole, flounder, etc. This place is very popular for local anglers to dig and fish. On big tides you can dig black lug, yellowtails and white ragworm here.

The Amusement Arcade: This is a shingle beach running into sand. You can fish equally at long or short range. Apart from bass, you can expect to catch sole, flounder and eels during the summer months. There are some great little breakwaters along the beach, ideal for bass fishing. Peeler crab, sandeel, ragworm, blow and black lugworms are the best baits to be used here.

Paston Beach: It fishes equally well throughout the year. You can fish for bass from April until September. The best time to fish during summer months is at first light or at dusk. In case you are fishing during winter, angling during both day and night time can get you good results.

Banjo Groyne: You can fish from the groyne or the beach. This is a very popular place for anglers during the summer. About 120 yards to the left towards the marina, there are vast sandy areas that produce good bass during the summer months. For best results, fish at night with two rods, one at long range and the other close to the groyne for a chance of a bass or two.

The Nudist Beach: This is another place that is very popular for local anglers for you can chance upon huge bass. It is a shingle beach running into some rocky outcrops and sand. It is ideal for bass. Nighttime is the best time to fish in order to avoid the bathers. But when the sea is rough and dirty, the best bass catches are made.

Black Rock Groyne: You should set out to fish at night because it is crowded with swimmers in the daytime. The beach is made up from rocks, shingle and sand and thus makes it an ideal place for bass anglers. The best baits are crab, sandeels, mussels and slipper limpets. Instead of a long cast, a 30 to 50 yard lob is ideal. The place can be weedy at times, especially after a blow. But if you fish on the groyne, it keeps your tackle above the weed and makes it easier to fish.

Now that you known where to go for bass fishing in Brighton, set out with your angling equipment and get hold of bass.

Bass, often called the king of the sea is highly priced by anglers and a popular choice with chefs. Since it a voracious predator feeding on sardines and mackerel it has high oil content and tastes very delicious. It is the most attractive and sought after sea fish in England. The bass (locally known as sea salmon) was found in plenty on the Cornish surf beaches during the 60’s and the 70’s. In fact surf beaching at that time was immensely popular with fishes caught from open beaches averaging 4lb. But large scale exploitation of bass fishes due to its high market value (about £6 per lb) resulted in a sharp decline in their numbers. Fortunately with the legal notifications for protecting bass nurseries across the UK, their numbers have plummeted during the last ten to fifteen years and the average catches have once again reached the 3lb-4lb range.

The Cornish coast is an ideal place for bass fishing with some celebrated bass marks in the whole UK. The choice that the place offers in terms of variety in bass fishing is simply marvelous. Shore fishing from the beaches, headlands and cliffs simply takes your breath away. Surf fishing among the large sandy bays, beaches and coves located on the southern and northern coasts of Cornwall is also becoming popular with anglers. There are various methods for catching a bass including float fishing, legering and spinning. Although some beaches may be favored by the bass over the others, but still they are found on almost all surf beaches in Cornwall. Surely there are certain landscapes that attract more bass due to the presence of food favored by bass. Features like patches of bared stone, rocky outcrops and gullies will be having little mussels, crabs hiding in holes and small fishes –all highly favored by the bass. For surf fishing the surf must not be too low and must not be in a suspended form.

The fishing season in Cornwall starts from May when the adult fish come back inshore and lasts till January, although smaller school bass is found throughout the year. Night time is considered the best to catch a bass when the fish would come very close to the shore. Fishing in south Cornish coast requires only light tackles while the strong lateral tides on the northern coast surf beaches demands heavier rods. Baits may include lugworm, peeler crab, sand eel and king rag worm. It is always good to finds out in advance what the local anglers are using as the bass may get engaged in eating what it gets on a regular basis. The well known fishing venues on the north Cornish coast includes Fistral, Whipsiderry, Watergate Bay, Crantock, Mawgan Porth, are worth trying. In addition, Portreath, Porthtowan, Chapel Porth, Perranporth, Constantine, Harlyn, Polzeath, Trebarwith strand and Tregardoc. The venues on south Cornish coasts include Whitsand Bay, Crinnis, Carne, Pendower, Towan, Loe Bar and Praa sands. Then there are many small coves and bays around the Cornish coastline that might offer opportunities to a bass fisher.

It is estimated that there are two distinct takable size limits for bass fish in Cornwall. While the designated nurseries have a minimum landing size of 14 inches the open coastal areas have sizes more than what was stated above. According to latest studies fishermen in Cornwall generally get a bigger landing size when compared with the rest of the UK. A responsible angler must have a respect for the size limit and not exploit too much of the smaller basses that might have had only little chances of reproducing.

Trophy bass simply means a bass of huge size. Many people think that getting a bass of 12 to 14 pound is purely luck. But experienced sport fishers say that it is not luck but they have to look for places and conditions in the sea to catch such a fish. Bass usually grow throughout their lifetime and therefore grow to size of monsters if conditions in the sea are favorable (Finding trophy bass, 2008).

Trophy bass are usually available in warm waters where their metabolism would be faster and so their growth. They need shallow waters to feed and spawn and deeper water close by for a shelter and cover. So trophy bass would be available in slightly warm shallow waters, where there is abundant feed in the form of shoals of small fishes and with deep water close by. If these conditions are present in the site where one is fishing, he is sure to get a trophy bass. A fish finder, which gives a record of temperature also, would be the best equipment for finding such sites. Usually more adventurous and experienced sport fishers would go in search of trophy bass. The best season would be summer months when the temperatures are slightly higher. There are several holiday fishing stations in UK that is exclusively meant for trophy bass fishers. These fishes are usually released back into the waters after catch and photo sessions.

Thus trophy bass fishing is nothing but fishing for large sized bass in the warmer water of warmer months. This type of fishing is a thrill for experienced bass fishers of UK. But the fish after it is caught, is usually released back into the sea out of their concern for the bass stocks in UK seas.

It is rather a danger less area compare to sea fishing and people could go fishing as a family together so that parents could enjoy fishing along with the children (Fresh water fishing info, 2008). Both large mouth bass and small mouth bass are important sport fish for angling in freshwater.

As in the case of seawater bass fishing, angling is the method preferred and enjoyed by the people of UK in freshwater also. The equipment used is simple compared to the seawater fishing, since the freshwater is calm and therefore the gear need not be so sturdy. For freshwater fishing a license from the government is required to fish in most of the fishing sites. Both natural and artificial baits are available. The natural baits include crayfish, fogs, minnows, shads, earthworms, insects, insect larvae, etc. Usually people prefer to catch the bait at the site itself rather than spending money for it. Prepared baits such as bread balls, cheese balls, liver, chicken entrails also are used (Fresh water fishing: The basics you need to know, 2006). Artificial baits such as worms, streamers and spinners are also used. Lures and tackles as used in the seawater bass fishing is also used for freshwater bass fishing.

Thus it could be seen that bass is available in the fresh water also to fish. Those who prefer to have a calm environment to fish and those who do not like to take risk for fishing prefer freshwater for fishing. The equipments required are simple and one could enjoy with children in such sites.

In UK, bass fishing for sport is an important hobby for most people. Therefore a big industry is there to take care of every needs of a person who would like to engage in angling for bass. All the fishing tackles and other gears are available in great many forms and shapes in the market. There are both artificial and natural baits for bass fishing. Both these types are available in different forms. Most of the anglers prefer natural baits but because of the convenience to carry and store, some fishermen prefer artificial baits.

Mostly the anglers of UK would prefer the baits they catch on the spot while bass fishing. However, the beginners mostly depend on baits available in market. Natural baits include mackerels, sand eels, white baits, crabs, squids and a variety of worms such as ragworms, lugworms, etc. Lugworm is the most preferred natural bait (Fishing blog, 2008). These come in the market as vacuum packed, so that it need not be refrigerated. Once the pack is opened the original colour, texture and flavour would be replaced in a few minutes and the bait would be ready for fishing. Artificial baits are made of biodegradable materials as well as plastic and it also comes in all the shapes as natural baits (Sea fishing supplies, 2008). These baits are usually soft and used in conjunction with attractant oils that are also available in the market to attract fish by its smell. Bait elastic and bait needles are other accessories, which are used to secure bait to the hook.

Thus it could be seen that there are different types of baits available in market, which are mostly used but the beginners since experienced anglers use only the baits they catch at the time of bait fishing. There are natural as well as artificial baits that could be used along with attractant oils to attract more fish.

For the same reason fly fishing is considered one of the most popular ways to catch bass in this part of England. Chichester harbour situated to the south west of the city of Chichester on the Solent, is a large natural harbour and a designated bass nursery area. Many bass are born in the area. One of the least developed coastal areas in Southern England; Chichester has a perfect mix of harbour, beaches, salt marshes, sand banks and mud flats. Bass begin their visit in May and there are some hotspots out of Chichester like Bullock Patch and the Hounds. When the harbour becomes full at high tide bass will be found in plenty. Fishing for bass is prohibited either by boat or using sand eel bait is prohibited within any part of the Chichester harbour between 30th April and 1st November. You should be aware that there is a minimum landing size which is 36cm and may fish caught below that size should be returned.
