Fishing for sea bass

Fishing for sea bass is an important entertainment for the people of UK. Bass is considered historically as a sport fish and second only to salmon in its value as sport fish. It is caught by beach seine, pair trawling etc, but the most important method is by angling employed by sport fishermen of UK (Question of Trust, Labour is on course to lose the Angling Vote, 2008).

People of UK go for bass fishing both day and night throughout the year, regardless of the seasons and also in high as well as in low tides. What they need to know is when to fish and how to locate the fish and also the best fishing tackle to be used. There are many agencies in UK that help the people by providing all the information they need to go for sea bass fishing (Bass fishing: where and when to go, 2008). They could go for holidays to beaches where their stay also would be arranged so that the holidays they spend there fishing for bass would be remarkable. The recreational bass fishery in UK is highly valuable because of the revenue it earns to the government. In recent years, there is a great concern over the size at which the bass is caught. Most of them are caught before they reach 1 lbs size or before they could get a chance to spawn. So the government had taken decision to implement a ban on catching bass of less than 36 cm size, to conserve the fishery. But recently such conservatory measures were lifted causing great concern for the fishermen of UK (Question of Trust, Labour is on course to lose the Angling Vote, 2008).

In UK although there are commercial methods to catch their favourite fish, bass, angling for it is a job, which people love to do especially in holidays. There are several agencies associated with these activities, thus it is a well established industry in UK, providing livlihoods for many people. Therefore it is the duty of the government to conserve it at any cost.
